Glamour photography, art that takes skill

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Glamour Photography, models, photographic lighting, Photography

I recently shot Playboy model Kylie she is one of the best models I have ever worked with, and you can see why in the photographs that resulted from the shoot. Kylie knows how to pose and move to get the best shots and not all models can do this, she also is very easy to work with and cooperates with the photographer to get the shots he wants which is very important to a successful photo shoot. In the creation of the final photographs, I also used a new digital processing technique that I have created that give a new “you are there” quality to the model photographs.

I have found a retouch software that does not break my rules on model head shots.

In a previous article I told of the use of retouch software on model head shot and not to use them, until now.  I was recommended to take a look at Portrait Professional, I was told it does no break your rules in your article on you blog, it just enhances a quality photograph, and they was right. I always try to be open minded when it come to photography, what I was so critical was software that does changes that makes someone skinny when they are not, hair color they do not have, now Portrait Professional can be abuse in this manner, but used by a photographer to (and this is the key word) slightly enhance the photograph, all it really dies is emphasize the quality light of the photographer, rather than make the model someone who is totally different than they really look in real life. I want that real you are there in all my work,

The great software addon file to Photoshop I used to Illustrate my studio lighting set ups

Many times a photographer finds a real jewel to add with his profession tools and techniques, or document his set up from his notes, and what I have discovered is a real jewel to aid in that work. It is a Photoshop PSD file you download open and use the different layers in the file to create your diagram, the results is a very neat, printable, and savable file, one catch I will share with you once you do the diagram, be sure to use the “save as” in Photoshop and rename the file or you will corrupt the original file you downloaded.

Simply Looking at How you light you Photographic Subject

One  way to really do an simple exercise in to lighting is to take an object and a light bulb in a holder  next to an object on a table in a totally dark room at night, have you camera on a tripod. Now turn the light on, turn off the lights (camera on auto exposure) in the room now move the light and make notes while taking pictures of how you take pictures. Now leave the light on one position and have a white and silver card move the card around the object at different angles at different locations taking notes, do this with both cards. make good enough note where you can match up the exposure with the shot, now examine your work. You will see how light reflects and how what we call the spectral high lights (reflective properties) are effective by different materials at different angles, now you have a start understanding light.
